League More Stable Than Ever
15
March 2009
THE
STATE OF THE LEAGUE IS EXCELLENT. As the USFLL
enters its fifth season, the league is in better
shape than ever. That has been a consistent
theme for the league throughout the four years
of its existence. Every season gave the league
new members, owners and teams that have been
tremendous assets. Each time a team was lost,
it was replaced with an even better
organization. The same continues to be true
today. As the league held its first recruiting
event Saturday, it found a number of solid
prospective owners, coaches and players.
Individual teams and the league are planning
major fund raising events that will raise
capital in amounts never before seen in the
league. Even with the local economy depressed,
the league is in a better position for growth
and stability than at any time in its history.
In
addition to the league stability on its own, the
Coaches Board has determined to continue
pursuing partnership deals with local high
school football programs. The league has had
affiliations with Mojave, Green Valley and
Legacy High Schools and has added Desert Oasis
already this year. The league is also in
negotiations with several other local high
schools. Of course, each agreement is unique,
but the general concept is to have a close
relationship with the programs, trying to
integrate the programs as much as possible and
prepare players for high school programs.
